How do I get there?

Plant City map

If you’re coming from I-4 take
the 21A exit. It’s called Buchman
HWY. Go south into Plant City
(about 1 mile). Buchman
becomes Wheeler St. At the
traffic light at Wheeler and Baker
you will see the church on your
left.

If your coming from the
south – Rt. 60, travel through
Bartow (east) or Brandon (west)
to Rt. 39. Take Rt. 39 north
into Plant City. It becomes
Collins St. Take Collins to
Mahoney St. and turn left.
The church is one block straight
ahead.

Where do I park?

There are 4 municipal parking lots north, east, south, and west of the campus. North is
the Sunshine State Credit Union lot. To the south is the Sun Trust Bank lot. To the
west is the city building lot. East is street parking.

Where do I go?

If you arrive for the 8:00 worship, enter into the traditional building from the Mahoney
St. entrance. Take the stairs to the second floor. The Chapel is on you right just down
the hall. If you come for 9:00 Contemporary Worship, follow the covered walkway to
Wesley Center and enter through the glass doors on either the west or east sides.
For 10:00 Sunday School, enter the traditional building via the Mahoney St. entrance
and a greeter will direct you to an appropriate class.

For the 11:00 Traditional Worship service you can enter through the large front doors
(Up the glorious front staircase), or through the Mahoney St. entrance. Take those
stairs to the second floor and walk the long hallway to the sanctuary. Our handicap
entrance and parking are on the Wheeler St. side of the building. The elevator is
located by the door with the red awning.

Where do my kids go?
If you come to worship, bring the children with you. Each week the pastor or staff offer
a Children’s Sermon during worship. Then the children are invited to return to their
seats with you or go with our staff to Kids Worship. For Sunday School, enter
the traditional building through the Mahoney St. entrance and the Sunday School
classrooms are right there.

The nursery is a safe and caring place for your children from birth to 3 years old. There is Sunday School during the 10:00 worship hour for Pre-K to 5th grade children. They are always welcome with you in worship. There is also Kids Worship available for your children during the 9:00 and 11:00 worship hours.

Contact our children's minister, Shawna, for more information.

What are worship services like?
8:00 is a traditional Chapel service with organ music, hymns, and Holy Communion.

9:00 is a Contemporary Worship Event with soft Christian rock and contemporary
music, informal seating, and an informal atmosphere.

11:00 is a Traditional United Methodist service in the sanctuary with liturgy,
hymn singing, prayer time, organ and choir music.

The pastor preaches the same sermon at all services.

What do I wear?

No matter what your personal style, you’ll be comfortable at First Plant City. If you prefer dressy, business, or casual attire, chances are there will be others dressed much like you no matter when you visit. Florida casual is probably the most common attire.

Preschoolers and children learn while they play. We encourage hands on play so that children are learning through all their senses. Painting and other “messy” activities are also encouraged, so use your own judgment about how dressed up your child is while at church.

Our Middle and High School students usually dress casually on Sunday and Wednesday evenings because games and sporting events are often held outside and sometimes involve getting messy.

What else happens on Sundays?
Of course we have Sunday School for all ages. Call ahead for more information or look
at other pages here at our site. Soon we will have a food court outside along the
covered walkway, a book sellers cart, and information station. It will be a great place to
relax, meet some new friends, get a banana or Dunkin Donuts coffee and enjoy the
great Florida weather.

What happens on other days?

Check out our church calendar here.
Check out the many other pages on this website. There are literally dozens of activities
that you can get involved in through this church. Coming this fall we will begin a
“small group movement”. Come and try out the fellowship, prayer life, and study time
of a home group – held midweek each week.

Can I meet the Pastor?

The Pastor would love to meet you!  Pastor Earl is outside after worship every Sunday morning to personally greet our guests and he asks that you take a moment to stop and say hello.  If you would like a more in-depth visit with the Pastor, please call the church office to set up a time for a personal visit or phone call.

Call the church office at 813-754-3519 or email.

What does the church believe?
We are a United Methodist Church and proud of that fact. For information on the
United Methodist Church please visit www.umc.org.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We believe in the Trinity – that God makes
himself available to us in three ways – as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in the
resurrection of the dead, a literal heaven and hell. We believe that all who believe in
Jesus as Savior and Lord receive a glorious eternity in that heaven where we will
encounter Jesus and dwell with him face to face. We believe the Holy Bible is God’s
written word to us given for instruction and to lead us into eternal life. We believe in
the Apostles Creed. We abide by the United Methodist “Book of Discipline” and seek to
live in the world and with the world’s people through the precepts of the Bible and the
philosophy of the church’s “Book of Resolutions”.

How do I become a member?

Call the church office and set up a time to talk with the pastor. Several time a year we
offer New Member Orientation Classes for adults and a longer Confirmation program
for teens.
